Thibault Philippaerts (BEL) was not to beat in Thursday’s €24,800 Sport Vlaanderen Prize CSI 3*, a Top Series 1.45m world ranking class. The young Belgian talent took an early lead on the 9-year-old home bred Jaimi Van Dorperheide (Winningmood x Cascavelle), with a lightning fast penalty-free round to stop the clock on 60.84 seconds.
None of the 49 other competitors could do anything about Philippaerts, who has been on great form recently – and he could celebrate yet another win and more important world ranking points.
Great Britain’s Jessica Mendoza (GBR) finished second with the 8-year-old gelding Kay (Echo van het Neerenbosch x Darco) with a time of 63.60 seconds, and Germany’s Katharina Offel third on the 9-year-old gelding Etna (Canturano x Jokinal de Bornival) stopping the timers at 64.03 seconds.
