Billy Twomey (IRL) & Kimba Flamenco won the €200,000 Longines Falsterbo Grand Prix CSI 5* last Friday during the Falsterbo Horse Show in Sweden.
The Irishman and the 9-year-old chestnut Anglo-European Sport Horse gelding (Je T’Aime Flamenco x Heartbreaker) earned top honors in the 1.60m challenge by leaving all the poles up throughout their two performances, registering no penalties and completing the jump-off in 55.80 seconds.
Runners-up Irma Karlsson (SWE) & Ida van de Bisschop (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Papillon Rouge) were nipped at the finish line, finishing only nine-hundredths of a second slower.
The home crowd was delighted to see one of their heroes and current European Champion Peder Fredricson (SWE) secured the third spot on the podium by riding H&M Christian K (Namelus R x Calvados) to their second penalty-free run, earning bronze honors in 56.37 seconds.
