Daniel Deusser (GER) & Cornet d’Amour won the €62,000 VDL Groep Prize CSI 5*, the feature class yesterday during The Dutch Masters – Indoor Brabant in The Netherlands.
The German and the 15-year-old grey Westphalian gelding (Cornet Obolensky x Damiani) were one of the only four combinations that left all the 1.55m maximum-height obstacles on up after their first round-performance in the challenge that also counted as a qualifier for the €800,000 Rolex Grand Prix CSI 5* on Sunday. The duo made the most of the advantage of being the last ones to enter the ring during the decisive phase, conquering the victory in 40.01 seconds.
Philipp Weishaupt (GER) & LB Convall (Colman x Cascavelle) secured the second spot on the podium with no penalties, stopping the timers in 40.47 seconds during the tiebreaker.
Harrie Smolders (NED) & Emerald (Diamant de Semilly x Carthago Z) had one rail down in 46.01 seconds, still good enough for third place since Luciana Diniz (POR) & Fit For Fun 13 (For Pleasure x Fabriano) didn’t take part in the jump-off.
