Sadly, Swiss great Wilhelm “Willi” Melliger (SUI) passed away earlier today. The 64-year-old Olympic Medalist left us after not being able to recover from health complications. He had been in coma since suffering a stroke last December.
The 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games Individual Jumping Silver Medalist and 2000 Sydney Olympic Games Team Jumping Silver Medalist was known by equestrians for his achievements on the rings and for having passed his knowledge to several professionals as a horse trainer and coach after retirement.
He had also won the 1995 European Championshipis Team Jumping.
Our condolences to the Melliger family and all of his beloved ones.
