Julien Épaillard (FRA) & Cristallo A LM took top honos in the €100,000 Longines Speed Challenge last night during the Longines Masters of Paris CSI 5* in France. The flying Frenchman and his speedy 13-year-old bay Holsteiner Verband Hengsthaltung & Vermarktung gelding (Casall x Corofino I) proved why they are considered one of the fastest combinations in the world, claiming the 1.50m penalties-accumulated-to-time class even with a pole down, registering 60.99 seconds.

The French crowd got were delighted when Kevin Staut (FRA) & Ayade de Septon et HDC (Wandor van de Mispelaere x Belle d’Avril) took the lead in 61.65 seconds after penalty-free perfomance, eventually finishing second in 61.65 seconds.

Lorenzo de Luca (ITA) was a bit conservative throughout his run, opting to leave all the poles up in 63.53 seconds, a strategy that resulted into a third-place finish.
