Bassem Hassan Mohammed (QAT) & Gunder won the €400,000 Longines Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Doha CSI 5* this afternoon at the Al Shaqab in Doha, Qatar. The Qatari brought much delight to his countrymen by putting on two amazing performances.
First, he used up almost all the time allowed to post a penalty-free run and qualify for the jump-off. Later, he came back aboard the 11-year-old bay Belgian Warmblood gelding (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Randel Z) and posted a lightning-fast run along with no penalties that left dust to the rest of the field. The duo stopped the timers in 35.31 seconds during the tiebreaker, more than 2 seconds faster than the runners-up.
