Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) won the very first CSI5*-W class in Lyon on Friday afternoon. Riding Caspar 232, he completed a very fast clear round at the half way stage of the class, in a time of 31″81. No other rider managed to better his time without knocking over a bar in this class sponsored by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. “Caspar jumped really well today. I decided to ride him in the smaller class of the day because during his first indoor competition of the year, in Verona last week, he jumped really well but we had a little problem with the combination in the Longines FEI World Cup class. This evening, I’m going to ride my other horse and, depending how it goes, I’ll decide on which one to ride for the Lyon stage of the Longines FEI World Cup on Sunday,” said the winner.
Second place went to the Irish rider Dermott Lennon (IRL) on Fleur IV (32″86), and the French rider Pénélope Leprevost (FRA) took third place on the podium with her promising horse Urano de Cartigny (33″30).
