
Doha, Qatar – February 11, 2026 – The Longines Arena at Al Shaqab will host H.H. The Amir’s Sword from 11-14 February 2026, one of Qatar’s flagship equestrian events and a highlight of Doha Equestrian Tour. The competition brings together 283 riders and 599 horses and culminates in the Grand Prix CSI 5*, offering €1.5 million in prize money, one of the largest purses in global showjumping. Beyond the competition, H.H. The Amir’s Sword is set to be a standout moment on Doha’s winter social calendar, combining a heritage-led arena spectacle with a refined guest experience and prize money among the most significant in the sport.
A press conference was held on Monday ahead of H.H. The Amir’s Sword 2026, outlining the sporting programme and key highlights of the week at Longines Arena at Al Shaqab.
Speaking at the press conference, Bader Al Darwish, Qatar Equestrian Federation President & DET Board Member, said:
“H.H. The Amir’s Sword reflects Qatar’s long-term commitment to world-class sport and reinforces Doha’s position on the international equestrian calendar. Headlined by a €1.5 million CSI5* Grand Prix, the scale of this week, and the level of riders it attracts, shows the growing confidence of the global equestrian community in the standards we deliver here at Al Shaqab.”
Salmeen Al-Suwadi, Doha Equestrian Tour Sports Director, added:
“This edition features a world-class field, including more than 13 riders from the current World Top 50 in the Longines FEI Rankings. Scott Brash returns to Doha as the current World No.1 and the Doha Equestrian Tour CSI 4*/5* series leader after four tours, underlining the sporting importance of this event on the international calendar.”

The occasion also included partnership signings with Visit Qatar and Doha Bank as Main Sponsors, attended by Abdulhadi Al Marri, Senior Manager of Partnerships at Visit Qatar, and Khaled Mohammed Al-Suwaidi, Government Relations Manager at Doha Bank.
Sport at the Highest Level
The international categories for the 2026 edition include CSI5*, CSI3*-W, CSI1*, CSICh-B, CDI1*. Total show jumping prize money for the event stands at €2,097,000, anchored by the headline €1.5 Million Grand Prix CSI 5*. The 2026 edition will also host World Cup qualifiers, adding heightened international participation, alongside the FEI Group VII qualifier, supporting regional riders on their pathway to higher-level international competition.
The event comes on the back of a strong Doha Equestrian Tour run, with Scott Brash (GBR) arriving as the current CSI 4* & CSI 5* series rankings leader on 199 points after four tours of H.H. The Father Amir’s Prix. Harry Charles (GBR) follows on 114, with Megane Moissonnier (FRA) close behind on 113. In CSI1*, the standings are led by Qatari riders, with Saad Ahmed S A Al Saad (QAT) on 49 points ahead of Hussain Said A M Haidan (QAT) on 43.

According to the Longines Rankings, the 2026 start list features a world-class roster, including more than 13 riders from the current World Top 50. Among the names set to compete are Scott Brash (GBR), Max Kühner (AUT), Harry Charles (GBR), Pieter Devos (BEL), Niels Bruynseels (BEL), Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS), Eve Jobs (USA), Nadja Peter Steiner (SUI), Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA), Abdel Said (BEL), Andreas Schou (DEN), Ioli Mytilineou (GRE), Janne F. Meyer-Zimmermann (GER), Inès Joly (FRA) and Oliver Lazarus (RSA).
Week Highlights: What Not to Miss
Wednesday, 11 February launches H.H. The Amir’s Sword at the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab with the first international classes. Thursday, 12 February features the Prix Hermès Sellier, delivering a showcase of showjumping bringing together luxury and sport. The key sporting moment comes on Friday, 13 February, headlined by the H.H. The Amir’s Sword Grand Prix CSI 5*, followed by a Grand Ceremony. The week concludes on Saturday, 14 February with the National Rider Grand Prix and a Family Day atmosphere on site, with activities for children alongside the evening sport.

Venue Experience
Friday will include the Grand Ceremony reflecting Qatar’s heritage and the symbolism of the Amir’s Sword, designed to complement the sporting schedule. The wider venue experience is designed as a premium yet family-friendly destination, with cafés, hospitality options, and children’s entertainment, so the atmosphere extends well beyond the competitive programme.
