Kevin & Kannonqulan Knock Out the Competition! Staut Storms to First in the Longines Stakes CSI 5*

Hong Kong, China – January 31, 2026 – What do you get when you team up a quick rider and a fast horse? A win! Kevin Staut (FRA) and Kannonqulan were quick and nimble across the course to claim the €56,800 Longines Stakes CSI 5* on Saturday during the second day of the 2026 Longines Hong Kong International Horse Show CSI 5* at the Asia-World Expo.

The Frenchman flew to first aboard the 10-year-old chestnut Swedish Warmblood mare (Kannan x Quantum), leaving the door closed for all other 20 contenders in the 1.50m class, securing the win in 54.34 seconds.

In order to win, Staut stormed past one of the fastest riders in the world, in fact the sixth-best in the world ranking. Richard Vogel (GER) and Cloudio were also quick, but not quick enough, finishing second in 55.10 seconds.

No other combination managed to stay within the 55-second mark and leave all the rails up. Johan-Sebastian Gulliksen (NOR) was just fast enough and still clean to guarantee bronze honors aboard Equine America Harwich VDL, doing so in 56.90 seconds.
