Monique Makes the Dream Come True! Busato is the Best in the Longines FEI World Cup of São Paulo CSI 4*-W

São Paulo, Brazil – August 24, 2025 – It was showtime for showjumping this Sunday and the grand finale of the 2025 Longines São Paulo Horse Show – Indoor Jumping of Brazil CSI 4*-W at Sociedade Hípica Paulista (SHP). Before establishing themselves at the highest level of the sport, every athlete has a breakout moment, a defining victory that puts them in a different category and that’s exactly what happened today.

Going up against much more experienced riders, Monique Hubner Busato (BRA) was flawless with RR Cornel du Lys, beating heavyweights of the sport to claim the $182,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ of São Paulo CSI 4*-W -1.60m, one of the qualifiers for the FEI Jumping Word Cup Final next year.

Consisting of 13 obstacles, 16 jumping efforts and the time allowed of 80 seconds, Guilherme Jorge’s (BRA) course proved to be the appropriate test, being challenged by 28 entries in the first round. Run under the format of two rounds, the top 12 would come back in reverse order of finish for round 2.

Round I

Ricardo Coelho Júnior (BRA) and Deviana 3K set the tone with a foot-perfect peformance up to the last obstacle but unfortunately they had it down. The next five riders, amongst them, two of the favorites to win, all fell victim to at least one pole down.

It was Monique Hubner Busato (BRA) and RR Cornel du Lys‘ turn to start writing the first chapter towards a curtain call victory. One of only 3 females in the class and seventh rider to go in the starting order, she was also the youngest one amongst all contenders. Despite being only 22 years old, the young protegé of Vítor Alves Teixeira was cool as ice under the big stage, calm and collected for the first fault-free performance. Spectators cheered her on and celebrated as the dynamic duo crossed the finish line.

Thiago Mattos (BRA) on First do Santo Antônio de La Semois matched her result, so did Vitor Dantas Medeiros (BRA) with Dream Day Melp and Flávio Grillo Araújo (BRA) aboard Lorentino JMen, only four combinations would return with a clean scorecard. Fortunes would change in the second round, except for her…

Round II

Ricardo Coelho Júnior (BRA) was the first one to improve his chances, temporarily taking over the lead by having no penalties in round 2, giving him a total of 4 penalty-points and the final time of 50.14 seconds for an honorable seventh place. Guilherme Foroni (BRA) and Casella Blanca JMen kept their score of 4 too and were even faster, completing the track in 45.60 seconds for fourth place.

Raphael Machado Leite (BRA) & Special Marathon Nina Blue M Secco

Raphael Machado Leite (BRA) and Special Marathon Nina Blue M Secco remained with the same score too, a total of 4 penalty-points. However, they produced the second fastest final round amongst all four-faulters, which would prove very valuable in the end.

Juliano Loureiro Carlos (BRA) & JP Kriska

The next rider, Juliano Loureiro Carlos (BRA) produced an impecable round with JP Kriska, still a total of four penalty-points too, timed in 45.21 seconds.

Monique Hubner Busato (BRA) & RR Cornel du Lys

It was Monique‘s turn to make her dreams come true aboard the 11-year-old chestnut stallion owned by her father, Roderjan Busato. One could sense that she had the crowd behind her and did she live up to expectation!. She opted to go slow, not to make any mistakes and her strategy paid off, the first double clear and the lead.

Both Thiago Mattos (BRA) on First do Santo Antônio de La Semois and Flávio Grillo Araújo (BRA) with Lorentino JMen, each had a rail down. The young lady had done it, the only double clear to beat the pros in the most important challenge of the year in Brazil, the biggest win of her career, the perfect ending to a fairytale story!

Six combinations finished with the same score of four penalty-points, thus time decided the order. Raphael Machado Leite (BRA) and Special Marathon Nina Blue M Secco finished second due to their time of 43.51 seconds while Juliano Loureiro Carlos (BRA) and JP Kriska rounded out the top three in 45.21 seconds as previously stated.
