Wolvertem, Brabant, Belgium – April 15, 2019 – Stephex Stables released an official statement confirming the news that Armitages Boy has been retired from showjumping competitions to purse exclusively a breeding career.
The 17-year-old bay Oldenburg stallion (Armitage x Feo) was had a successful career under the saddle of Lorenzo de Luca (ITA) and Aymerick de Ponnat (FRA), registering six FEI-level victories in 266 starts.
Stephan Conter made the following statement on the Stephex Stables’ Facebook account:
“In the past 7 years I saw Armitages Boy competing at shows and I was totally impressed by his athletic composition and how spectacular he was. One day, 4 years ago, my dream came true when I was able to buy the horse from Guillaume Canet. We were really happy with him especially with all the spectacular rounds he gave us. It was a hard decision we made together with our rider Lorenzo de Luca and our partners: Guillaume Canet and Gregory Mars. As Armitages Boy has reached the age of 17 and because the demand for breeding is so high, we decided this was the best time to retire him from the sport. This way the breeders can enjoy this superstar as well as his offsprings. So, I convinced myself to bring him to France Etalons. Here we can give him the chance to produce some good future foals. Lately I saw some good offsprings already and we expect to see them soon in our sport.” – Stephan Conter
