The Swedish Team for the 2021 European Championships at Riesenbeck

Stockholm, Sweden – August 12, 2021 – The Swiss Equestrian Federation – (Svenska Ridsportförbundet) and its chef d’Equipe Henrik Ankarcrona have released a statement announcing the team members for the upcoming 2021 Longines FEI Jumping European Championships at the Riesenbeck International venue on in Riesenbeck, Germany, September 01 – 05, in Riesenbeck, Germany.

The official announcement states the following:

“I may not have had a super focus on the European Championships just last week, but it has been there in the back of my mind all the time, and the planning has been going on for a while, says Henrik Ankarcrona.

The European Championships in jumping will be take in Riesenbeck, Germany, atLudger Beerbaum’s facility, on 1-5 September. Initially, the championship would have taken place in Hungary, but when the Olympics were moved forward one year, the FEI, the International Equestrian Federation, made the assessment that it would not be possible to hold the European Championships the same year and canceled. At the request of riders and several federations, the FEI changed and now it will be the European Championships not only in jumping, but also in dressage and field competition.

But the date means that the Olympic gold team from Tokyo can not stand on the starting line. It will be a far too short rest period for the horses. This does not mean that Sweden won’t stand a chance when it comes to the European Championship medals.

“I have enough riders to choose from for us to be able to send a strong team to Germany and the European Championships,” says Henrik Ankarcrona.

Those who have been selected for the European Championships in jumping are Peder Fredricson, Douglas Lindelöw, Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli and Evelina Tovek.

– There are five strong riders and five very capable horses. It is the first time at this level for all the horses and I am convinced that they are growing with the task.

– It will be fantastic fun with another championship, and hopefully an equally exciting one, the national team captain thinks.”

The Swedish jumping squad for the 2021 European Championships is the following:

Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli (SWE) & Kalinka van de Nachtegaele
Rolf-Göran Bengtsson (SWE )& Ermindo W
Peder Fredricson (SWE) & Catch Me Not S
