Edouard Schmitz & Cortino Excel in $20,000 MS Direct Group Prize CSIO 5* at St. Gallen

St. Gallen, Switzerland – June 05, 2021 – Another Swiss victory! Pouring rain made the challenging $20,000 MS Direct Group Prize CSIO 5* even more difficult. The 1.50 contest would have included a jump-off if at least two combinations had cleared the first round course, but Edouard Schmitz (SUI) was the only rider to stay clear of the penalty points with Cortino so the Swiss and the 14-year-old bay Holsteiner gelding (Coriano x Caretino) claimed the win.

The next two top spots on the podium were conquered by combinations that had one time-penalty in the first round. Andre Thieme (GER) rode Crazy Girl (Clinton x Gralshueter) towards silver honors in 71.43 seconds.

Alessandra Reich (AUT), who lives in Switzerland and competes for Austria, guided Loyd over all the obstacles, but their time of 74.19 seconds also gave them a score of 1, still good enough for bronze honors.

Final Results – CHF $20,000 Prize MS Direct Group CSIO 5*

1) Edouard Schmitz (SUI) & Cortino 46 – 0 / 70.65

2) Andre Thieme (GER) & Crazy Girl V – 1 / 71.43

3) Alessandra Reich (AUT) & Loyd – 1 / 74.19
