Titouan Schumacher & Atome Z Speed to First Place in €51,700 Grand Prix CSI 3* at Vilamoura

Vilamoura, Quarteira, Faro, Portugal – February 07, 2021 – Titouan Schumacher (FRA) and Atome Z sped to victory on Sunday in the €51,700 Grand Prix CSI 3* during the second week of the Vilamoura Atlantic Tour at the Vilamoura Equestrian Centre.

Forty-four combinations entered the Francisco Moura Arena for the feature class of the week, a 1.50m challenge that also counted as a qualifier (technical certification) for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo. Ten combinations advanced to the jump-off with the Frenchman and the 14-year-old bay Zangersheide gelding (Amadeus Z*Brimbelles x Toulon) keeping all the poles up in their cups while still managing to register the fastest jump-off performance, crossing the finish line in 35.96 seconds.

Having collected several wins at Vilamoura the past two years, Guy Williams (GBR) and Rouge de Ravel (Ultimo Van Ter Moude x Quouglof Rouge) came close to scoring another victory, finishing second only due to their final time of 36.88 seconds.

Winner’s of the Longines Ranking class on Thursday, Piergiorgio Bucci (ITA) and Cochello (Casall x Cartani 4) had another solid performance, rounding out the top three with no penalties in 37 seconds flat at the end of the tiebreaker.
