Grimaud, France – August 26, 2020 – The Hubside Jumping de Grimaud CSI 5*, 4* & 2* has been a major player in the resumption of international sport at its highest level since June and organised the first CSI 5* show in the world in July after the lockdown ended. It has played host to the best riders and horses in the world throughout the summer. This weekend, the public and the riders will gather together on the French Riviera for the last event of the summer, a 5* show. The sports schedule will be enhanced with evening classes for the occasion, and in particular a new class in Grimaud, the “six bar” competition.
Just as Many Champions Competing!
The best riders in the World Top 30, who have become regulars at the French Riviera show and were already present last week, will be in the ring. The World No.1 Steve Guerdat (SUI) will be competing again; he will be joined by his fellow countryman, who is just behind him in the world rankings, Martin Fuchs, (World no.2), who is returning to Grimaud. Great Britain’s Scott Brash (GBR), who last week won the 4* Grand Prix and was also second in the 2* Grand Prix, will also be taking part in the Hubside Jumping. As for Belgium’s Niels Bruynseels (BEL), the winner of the 4* Grand Prix in July, he will be accompanied by his fellow countrymen who were the team gold medallists at the most recent European Championships, Jos Verlooy (BEL), Gregory Wathelet (BEL), Pieter Devos (BEL) and Jérôme Guéry (BEL). The public in Grimaud will be able to watch some of the riders who shined in last week’s 4* Grand Prix such as Ireland’s Darragh Kenny (IRL (6th) and France’s Edward Levy (2nd), Simon Delestre (4th), Pénélope Leprévost (5th) and Roger-Yves Bost (7th). The French delegation performed well last week and will practically be the same this weekend, with, in particular, Julien Epaillard (FRA), the winner of many classes, Mathieu Billot (FRA), with a victory under his belt and many other placings in CSI 2* and 4* events, Marie Demonte (FRA), victorious twice and present at the prize giving ceremony several times and Laurent Goffinet (FRA), placed several times and who unfortunately had a time fault in the 4* Grand Prix which put him in an overall ninth position.
An even Richer Schedule!
Since last weekend, evening classes have been added to the Hubside Jumping’s schedule. The competition already took on a new dimension last week, with the key class of the CSI 4* which took place in the evening. For this final summer date before the Hubside Fall Tour, another exciting evening will be on offer on Saturday, with the organisation of the CSI 5* Grand Prix, boasting 200,000 euros of prize money. The day before, the public will be able to cheer on the horses and riders as they try to clear some impressively high fences in Friday’s evening class, the “six bar” competition. An exceptional class held for the first time in the Hubside Jumping de Grimaud’s ring!
Open to everyone, free of charge. It is mandatory to wear a face mask.
