It was a special day yesterday as an all-time great equstrian and his protégé battle it out for victory in the Brink Stables Prize CSI 3* at Jumping Zwolle CSI 3* in the Netherlands.In a interesting twist of fate, Lucas Porter (USA) and Diamonte Darco won the Brink Stables Prize CSI 3*, edging out his trainer, European, Olympic and World Champion, Jeroen Dubbeldam (NED).
The American and the 13-year-old chestnut British Sport Horse mare (Unbelievable Darco – Kriska) topped the 1.50m speed challenge after a penalty-free run in 53.30 seconds.
Jeroen Dubbeldam (NED) and Roelofsen Horse Trucks Gioia van het Neerenbosch (Nagano x Skippy II) finished second, the only difference being their time of 54.78 seconds.
Michael Greeve (NED) and Big Star Jr. KZ (Big Star x Polydor) rounded out the top three with no penalties in 56.03 seconds.
