From 12 until September 16, 2018 Zangersheide will set the stage again for the FEI / WBFSH World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses. These World Championships for 5-, 6- and 7-year old showjumping horses have been an enormous success over the previous 23 years. At the same time as the WC, an exclusive competition for stallions (FEI Sires of the World), a stallion approval and the Zangersheide Quality Foal Auction as well as the Belgian Jumping Championship Seniors will take place. This year, the Belgian Championship will take place on September 12, 13 and 15 (final).
From 13 until 16 September 2018 Domain Zangersheide is the centre from which showjumping talents conquer the world. This closing event of the breeding season has become an established value in the international showjumping world! In unparalleled manner the relationship between sport, breeding and the trade takes place with world-wide interest.
In the FEI / WBFSH World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses 5-, 6- and 7-yr-old horses jump for the world titles in three arenas with all-weather floors! And the stakes are high: a place on the honourary platform gives the horses a world title while the breeders and riders are rewarded with a premium! And this year, the premium gets even bigger… “Zangersheide has led the way for years when it comes to the promotion and support of young show jumpers. We want to set that bar even higher, even beyond the boundaries of their pedigree. Both the prize money and the breeding bonus (an additional 10% of the prize money) will get increased this year. Thanks to this, there will be a total of € 62,500 to divide for the seven-year-olds,” says organizer Judy Ann Melchior.
Increasing the Seven-Year-Old Up to €100,000
This increase of prize money will continue in the years to come. “For 2019, we will raise the prize money again with a minimum of €75,000, which will raise the amount in the seven-year-old horses finals to €100,000, with an additional breeder’s bonus of €10,000. For the six-year-old horses this will mean that in the finals they will be jumping a Longines Ranking class with € 50,000 prize money.”
Double the Reward for Breeders
Breeders whose horses appear at the start in Lanaken from 12 to 16 September will receive a double reward. Not only will 10% on top of the prize money be awarded to the breeders regardless of the horse’s registered pedigree, but Zangersheide will also award the Zangersheide Super Premium for Breeders, worth € 30,000, as it does every year. This means that the breeders, present in Lanaken, of the horses that win the gold, silver, and bronze medals in every age category will receive an additional cheque of € 5,000, € 3,000, and €2,000 respectively.
