Dutch Domination in the Opening Five-Star Competition at Brussels Stephex Masters

Under the bright August sun, the CSI 5* riders took to the ring for the first time this weekend as Thursday’s 1.45m competition presented by Albam got underway yesterday afternoon with the world’s best in action.

The Dutch riders dominated, taking first and third place. Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) and Idi Utopia, a 10-year-old dark bay Belgian Warmblood mare (Quasimodo Z x Darco), were the fastest in the second phase, stopping the clock at 27.33 seconds for the victory.

Then followed Great Britain’s former world no. one Scott Brash (GBR) on Hello Senator (Carambole x Indoctro) in 28.39 seconds,  just ahead of Harrie Smolders – current leader of the world ranking – in third aboard Une de L’Othain (Conterno Grande x Cento) with a time of 28.97 seconds.
