Matthew Sampson (GBR) & Gloria van Zuuthoeve won the €120,000 Hamburg Derby, presented by J.J. Darboven yesterday during the Deutsches Spring und Dressur – Hamburg Derby at the Derby Platz Klein Flottbek in Hamburg, Germany.
A total of three combinations had qualified for the jump-off, but the Brit and the 12-year-old bay Belgian Warmblood mare (Thunder van de Zuuthoeve x Glorieux) were the only ones to register two penalty-free performances, the decisive one in 50.53 seconds.
Gilbert Tillman (GER) & Claus Dieter (Clarimo x Cantus) had secured second place with only one rail down for a total of four-penalty-points, going through the finish line in 53.62 seconds.
Sandra Auffarth (GER) & Nupafeed’s La Vista (Lordanos x For Pleasure) registered the fastest jump-off time among the three finalists, but this was at the expense of 2 poles down, which meant the duo had to settle for third place after eight penalty-points in 46.41 seconds.
