Michael Jung & Vincent Voorn on Top at Peelbergen CSI 2*

2018.01.19.99.99 Peelbergen CSI 2

The first international jumping competition of 2018 at the  Equestrian Centre de Peelbergen immediately had two winners in classes of same format. Olympians  Vincent Voorn (NED) and Michael Jung (GER) were pretty well matched tonight. They both registered a win in a 1.40m class and also jumped to a top five ranking. “Not accidentally, but also not on purpose”, Jung laughs after his victory.

In the qualification for the Middle Tour over 1.40m,  Voorn took the lead. Jung joined Fischerchelsea (by Check IN) at number four. The GDS training rider raced with Padinus offspring Dante alone through the finish line under 60 seconds in 58.17. “I deliberately did not start quietly. I think that is part of the training of a horse. They now have the age that they sometimes have to stand when necessary and if you do not practice that, then you really do not know anything when it really matters “.

We got Dante about 1.5 years ago. At a young age he was not ‘a lot of stallion’ at all. We wanted him to be more of a stallion, but at a given moment you are more fighting than guiding. His temper is much better now and training is a pleasure again. I drive here next week in Kronenberg, I like to drive here anyway. Why should you be far away, if you can also start nearby and take all your customers with you. Together with a few more competitions we use these two weeks in preparation for the Sunshine Tour. This is a good start, “Voorn concluded with satisfaction. Dane Soren Pedersen was good for the second place with Tailormade Sandros S Bella (by Sandro Boy). The partner of Tim Hendrix, Oda Charlotte Lyngvaer (NOR) came third with Triomphe de Muze-mare Cendy Vdp.

Michael Jung

With Fischersolution German eventing phenomenon Michael Jung succeeded in stopping the chronometer in GP qualification more than a second faster than his jumping counterparts. With the nine-year-old Carthino Z-daughter, who recorded for the eleventh place in the Rolex GP over 1.60m in Geneva at the end of last year, Jung kept the rhythm great, good for 58.15 seconds. Only another combination clocked below the 60-second limit. Belgian Gilles Dunon (BEL) rode Fou de Toi Vd Keihoeve (by Toulon) to register 59.29 seconds. Vincent Voorn (NED) took fifth place in this test with Applause-scion Explosion in 62.22.

Hot firing Jung was delighted. “I have already seen a lot in my career, but what have they created here a beautiful complex. Immediately winning the first class also helps, because I did not necessarily go for the win, but I certainly did not take it easy. This horse has been on fire for a while, but after a month of no competitions, you have to start somewhere again, “said Olympic, World and European champion about his first experience at De Peelbergen.
